STYLE FILE-White

I promise you I will go over certain subjects again and again. When I do, you can be sure its a favorite subject of mine. One subject I never tire of is the color white. The older I get the more white I want. I don't know why that is, it just is. Its so crisp and clean and noncomplicated. Maybe its how we long our lives to be? I dunno. White with bold splashes of color or even bright white with cream white....I love em' all.

I love, love, love white with splashes of color. The funny thing is that I don't have a lot of it my house. I always say thats what I am going to do but, I guess the practical side of me having three boys in the house always veers me to some other color. I swear I am going to do it in my kitchen with splashes of blue/aqua.

Ah, Lisa -- I'm totally with you on this one. Homes that have the "casa crayola" effect are nice to visit but they don't have the calming effect of white with sparse color additions. Some find it clinical, but I find it serene, myself. Unfettered, easy on the psyche!

I've just been thinking about this -- the house we are going to move into is very colorful. The colors they chose are really nice and I feel a bit guilty about wanting to take it to white. But, I do!

I'm a new reader here and will be checking back and dipping into the archives. I need to find some good advice on how to choose a white -- it seems possibly more complicated than choosing a color!

HI all
I have to admit, I live in color too. But I dream of white most times. I did redo my teen daughters room in creams and at first she didnt like it. Now that she is 15 her friends (and she) love it. Amanda, research whites like crazy! It helped me to figure out what type of whites I like. Warm whites or cool. Keep a folder with white rooms you love and you'll start to see a pattern. Thats not to say you can't mix warms and cools, but it can be a bit harder...

....White/color. The ying and the yang. I'm a split personality for sure. Ned a bit of both in my life, in my home. Lovely pix per usual Ms. L!!
