Fireplace Mantles

Fireplace mantels (for me anyways) are one of the hardest things to decorate. Basically a simple shelf to adorn however you see fit. Yeah, fits alright. I've gone months trying to figure out what to do with mine. For me I've found the simpler the better. I start trying to get cute and it just turns out bad. I look at pictures to inspire me. Right now I have 2 candles on holders and a long bowl between them. Come Christmas, I'll be back to the drawing board! How do you like your mantel done??

I switch mine up every few months because I have so many things I want to do. Right now, I have different size framed pictures that I stacked kind of like a collage in front of it. I'll switch up the pictures and then maybe do something different for the holidays. I love your blog!

I change mine up pretty often, too. Right now I have some red books, 2 busts, 2 urns and an old clock. My mantel is hugh...it stretches across 2 bookcases on either side of the mantel. Talk about hard to decorate!! I usually get ideas from books, magazines and Pottery Barn catalogs. Love reading your blog!!

I keep mine simple, Lisa. I've tried to do it up, but I always go back to the swan and Jon Pils, in the hearth room and a candle or two on the "lodge" mantle.

Deb in IL at GI, has a wooden trencher with pears on her mantle. Simple and fabulous!

I'm celebrating my 100th post, this week. Can't believe I've done that many!!

I just want a mantle. A mantle is on my must-haves list for a home. Not a fireplace...just a mantle.
