Using Every Bit of Space

In small spaces, it's easy to think you are just plain out of room for anything else. If there is a spot in your house that does not serve much purpose, rethink it! Space above the bed, that blank wall when you first walk in the door. Rethink every spot in your home. Also don't feel like you have to have certain things in certain rooms. A home office can be in your bedroom if it works there for you. Decide how your life flows and design your home around YOU!

My favorite use ever was the under the stairs space...drawers for boots & other odds & ends.

Also think inside the walls! It's pretty simple to create a nook or a small niche from the space between your wall studs.

I stumbled upon your blog and am quite impressed! I like the stack of books in the photo. I love books so think they are integral to any design and offer great "textural" feel for a room. I carved out space in between pilings in a stairwell in our beach house and made large niches for my vintage purse collection and also gained a "shelf" on top of the niches...I stacked all my design books and others in a random manner and I love the way it looks! Sometimes the best decor is right under your nose! Check out my blog as well: kitchendetails.wordpress.com

This is especially true in my tiny apartment. We're actually going to be building a bed with two rows of bookshelves on each side in order to save space!

Love the first photo.... and I've been looking for a table just like that.

I've always been a big advocate of "using every bit of space", however you have done it so elegantly here. Beautiful site!
