inspiration for smaller spaces
Lucy and Desi, peanut butter and jelly, black and white. What do they all have in common? They were made for each other! Ok, Lucy and Desi for the 50's but you get my drift! Black and white has been around forever it seems and for good reason. A fun way to tweak black and white is to add a 3rd color to the mix in a smaller dose.
I think one of my favorite styles is what is now described as modern country. I don't love lacey frilly country and I'm not a fan of cold fluff less modern, but when you mesh the 2 styles together...it can be magic. I love my farmhouse table mixed with my black mod chairs. Mixing can be tricky, but the fun is in getting there!
I promise you I will go over certain subjects again and again. When I do, you can be sure its a favorite subject of mine. One subject I never tire of is the color white. The older I get the more white I want. I don't know why that is, it just is. Its so crisp and clean and noncomplicated. Maybe its how we long our lives to be? I dunno. White with bold splashes of color or even bright white with cream white....I love em' all.
There is something about the cottage style that appeals to me. Cottages are for the most part, small, so the style and the "small" go hand and hand. The only time I do not care for it, is when its over done. Too much stuff out for stuffs sake. A delicate tea cup on the back of the toilet for show, not good. I love the above pictures for their style and simple good looks. A desk as a night stand is a great idea, one I've used myself. If you have no room for a home office this is a great option. The best thing about cottage style is the relaxed "come put your feet up" vibe it gives off.
