Open or Closed Storage ?

Everything needs a place. Putting your things away is key to small living. The very first thing you should consider is open or closed storage. I tend to lean towards closed, because, well, I'm a messy person. Don't get me wrong. I love the look of open storage, I just know my limitations :). My best advice is, if its pretty and you like to look at it, open storage. Otherwise, hide that stuff !!

  1. In my home, with three kids, we use as much closed storage as I can!

  2. I luv open storage, but like you said, you have to keep it neat and orderly otherwise, not worth showing.

  5. I usually lean towards open storage (obsessed with open shelving in kitchens...)

  6. I prefer closed storage for almost anything, with the exception of books. Though I try to keep it organized inside, sometimes it IS better to know our limitations.

  7. any clue on where I can find a bench like that? I am thinking I can use it as a coffee table because my living room is so small

  8. I always prefer closed storage...unless it's in the kitchen. I think of the kitchen as a work space-everything should be available and easy access.

  9. You could probably pick up a bench similar in style at an antiques market or flea market if they have anything like that in your area. We live in the Gold Coast and there are all kinds of sales like that around here. As to the open or closed storage issue, I say closed for most things but open for display purposes.
