Holiday Mantels

If you have a mantel, what do you do to it during the holidays?

I love all the white! It's so refreshing . . . especially with the pops of green. Oh and the birch wrapped vases with trees are fabulous!

Sadly, I don't have a mantel. But if I did, I'd want it to look exactly like that bottom photo! Gorgeous.

Here's what I did last year: http://teacuplane-sandy.blogspot.com/2009/11/christmas-2008.html

I haven't started decorating yet this year.

Love your mantle photos!

Thanks for the great ideas, now I just need a mantel.

I usually hang a lighted wreath, then drape the mantel with a lighted garland. Pillar candles and Christmas stockings complete the look. Simple, but that's me.

Boo hoo...No mantel. LOVE those mittens, though!

I am all for traditional but I just LOVE the mittens in place of the stockings! Very cute.

Just came across your blog and will continue to read it as I too have an interest in small space design. I downsized last year from a 4000 plus sq. ft home in the suburbs to a brand new 1400 sq. ft. condo in the centre of the city. Because I am a lover of strong vibrant colour, dijon mustard, red and deep dark blues were some of the colours on the walls of our house. In our purchase agreement the walls of our condo were to be painted beige but I am not a 'beige' person so I begged the devloper to paint the walls white and he complied. I love the whiteness of the walls because they allow the furnishings and artwork to have a voice of their own but I started second guessing myself since decorating magazines are focusing on wall colour trends. I wondered,'Do I need to add pops of colour on some of the walls?' I just looked at your 'apartment' entries, almost all of which have white walls. Just want you to know that you have given me back my confidence. Like a gold piece of jewelery on a black sweater, furniture and artwork come to life on a white wall. So thanks for you great blog on small spaces and for helping me realize that the use of white in my particular space did create the look I wanted.

p.s I am Canadian. We spell color with an added 'u' colour, and center as centre just in case you thought these words were spelled incorrectly. Happy Holidays!!
