I know a lot of people do not have enough space for a "formal" dining room, but if you can find a corner for a table with one or two chairs, go for it ! Think cozy yet practical...a place to rest your plate is very valuable indeed !
Not to be critical, but the top photo is the only one that shows a small space. The middle photo might be, but it's hard to tell because it's cropped to showcase the table & chairs. The bottom photo appears to be in a space larger than my apt.! It always bothers me to see design ideas that claim to be for "Small Spaces" that really aren't very small...maybe small for people who live in mansions. Having said all that, I love the styles that you show and I think you have some really great ideas. Didn't mean to be mean or write a novel, just thought you should show a little context in the photos! Thanks!
Every pic that is posted here is beautiful. I really injoy this site. However I often wonder why there aren't more I don't know Pics that make sense. I'm sorry and by no means do I mean to offend. My home is a cozy 380sqft country cabin. I've seen very little on this truely wonderful site that I can use. My dinning area is nice for 2 and cramped for 4. There is no way I can seat 5 or more for dinner. All of these pics appear to seat 5 or more very nicely.
This is a wonderful suggestion...using a space for more than one thing allows us to have a "diningroom" almost anywhere in our apartment/condo/verysmall house!
Really like the first one--that bench really gives that casual room a touch of class. Also love the chandy, the carpet and the wall art in the third space. :)
I now officially know something about small spaces and dining tables! I will have to share my pitiful space soon. I also love the idea of the double duty dining room if you have a formal dining space. I think that is the direction I will go in if I ever have that again.
Thank you all for your comments! A lot of the times I do show larger spaces, I feel good design is good design, no matter what the size! I myself have used things in my own home that I saw in larger homes. Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Would you kindly tell me where the last photo is from? If it's a from a furniture catalog, I need to know if that china cabinet is for sale! I've been looking for one just like it. Thanks.
I am in love with the space in the first image and love everything from the way the artwork has been hung to the mix of seating available, the cushions and the rug. Gorgeous!
The first photo is fit for a small space like an apartment. I rent one of the affordable apartments, Simpsonville based, and I'm planning to have a little make over. Maybe this photo will inspire me on making little changes to my dining room.

My wife and I have owned our house now for around 6 years and we still have to buy a dining room table.
Thanks for the inspiration, it might be just what we need.
