Chalk

I have to admit, when I first started seeing the use of chalkboards in home decor, I thought it would be a passing phase. Its been awhile now and it does not seem to be fading at all! I love the use of chalkboards in the home. They give visual punch with such stark blackness, although you can now find chalkboards in all sorts of colors. I've used chalkboard paint in the past too. Adding magnetic paint to chalkboard paint is a great combination.

I think the chalk is fun, too. I remember having a chalkboard in my bedroom as a girl...I'd spend hours w/ it. Now classrooms have white boards. I think they're environmentally safer, which is always a good thing, but dang, I loved the messy chalk as a kid.

I used to love eraser duty, when you had to walk outside in the schoolyard and bang the erasers together! I really love those chalk planting pots. Those would be so easy to make at home. Great DIY project.

I love the concept of chalkboards in the house but I personally LOATHE chalk. Why? Dunno, maybe a past mishap with an eraser or errant dust in the eye?
